This past Sunday, Shiner joined a new family. Both families believe this is a win-win custody situation, and I'll do my best to explain why!
For the past month or so, Shiner has become a bit more than I am able to handle. I have a busy, busy home, made more so with the extra job I have of caring for an almost 2 year old (Mia) and homeschooling our brood. Craig is still working FedEx in the mornings and at Shepherd full time, while trying to expand his piano student base so that FedEx will no longer be necessary. In any case, his schedule is even crazier than usual (if you can even imagine it!). It was starting to feel like Shiner was getting short changed in the daily hustle and bustle. We absolutely love our dog, and it was out of love for him that we started to contemplate the idea of finding him a new home.
Shiner is a wonderful puppy. He's friendly, playful, loyal and entertaining (especially when he chases the tip on the end of his tail!). Shiner is deserving of more time, attention and (quite frankly) training than we are able to provide for him. Thankfully, God knew the burden on our hearts and our dear sister Julie started to have some dog issues of her own!
Tater lost his brother Buddy to a move. He has always known his life with Buddy, and after 10 years, (70 in dog years, mind you), the loss of Buddy from his daily routine was traumatic for Julie's dog. One night Tater just went missing. After hours of searching, Tater was finally found, crying at the home of his old friend. He REALLY needed new doggy company!
Since Tater and Shiner get along so well, Craig thought to ask Julie & family if they would be willing to care for Shiner....the day after Taters escapade! Gotta love God's timing...and Auntie Julie, Uncle Paul and family for agreeing to take Shiner to live with them, so we will still be able to see our puppy grow up, and we now have another excuse to visit them more often(:-). Thank you, Hopps!
Regarding the daily escapades of the Meissler 7 this past week, here is a brief summary:
Harry Potter has finally made his way into our home, and just today Ella read 734 pages of the 4th book in the series, (for those who don't know, that is the ENTIRE book), and that is with mom forcing her to put the book down for meals, take basic care of herself, and run around outside a bit. She is now re-reading the first 3 until we can make it to Half Price Books to pick up the rest of the series!
On Friday, Natalie gets to change out the earrings she initially had put in on her birthday. She can hardly wait to buy a new pair!
Grace is enjoying eating foods using her front teeth again. The tooth she lost last month has finally been replaced!
Claire is still singing 'Dancing Queen' most of the time, and has now developed the gross habit of swallowing pool water and suffering the consequences of it in the 2 days following. Yuk!
David is still obsessed with "buying my kids beer when I grow up", and asks daily if dad can finish his tree house (which hasn't even been begun). He is also proud to proclaim to anyone who will listen his revelation that "God has a penis."
So, there you have it!
Love Much,
The Meissler 7
