This is our 100th blog post! (I know because blogger keeps a count of posts for me, not because I normally would have been tracking this type of thing:-). To commemorate this round event, we've compiled a list of facts about 100. Enjoy!
- Wolves are capable of covering over 100 miles in a single day.
- In 2001, Death Valley saw a record of 153 consecutive days with a daytime high temp. above 100 degrees. (That same year the Natl. Park had 1,064,784 visitors! We are certain hundreds of bottles of water were consumed by parched tourists:-)
- On average, 100 people choke to death on ball-point pens every year. (We predict those who have died in this manner were fans of putting the pen lid in their mouth!)
- Water boils at exactly 100 degrees Celsius.
- $100 was the VERY generous gift given by The Frey's to replace our camera - THANKS!
- The number 10 signifies fullness of time. Likewise, the multiples of 10 (think 100) illustrate the completeness or fullness of whatever is in view w/o representing the totality of it. (Didn't think you'd get some philosophy thrown in there, did ya!)
- p' is 100 in Greek
- Hecatoncheires was a 100 handed monster (with 50 heads!) in Greek Mythology.
- According to Greek mythology, were 3 Hecatoncheires born to Gaia (mother earth) and Uranus (Heaven); Briareus:Vigorus, Cottus:Furious, and Gyes:Big Limbed.
- The Roman name for 100 is Centamani.
- 100 years ago today, the Brooklyn Bridge opened, connecting New York & Brooklyn!
- Finally, C is the symbol for 100 in Latin and Roman Numerals.
Thanks for reading...have a great week!
