O what a beautiful morning!!

I OVERSLEPT!!

Upon bounding out of bed to the sound of Mia's mom knocking on the door and the phone (with Mia's mom on it) ringing...I was able to answer the door just in time for Claire to cry from the bedroom, while David announced (loud enough to wake his sisters) that Claire was crying and Brisket teaching Oreo how to make a mad dash out the door into the 'wild'.

Mia's mom leaves and the poor hungry child is in need of a bottle while 5 other hungry children are gathering and planning a mutiny on the kitchen floor over the proposed eggs w/ bacon menu for the morning. Oreo is still in the home (more educating needed by Brisket on the great escape) and knocks down the broom which in turn tips over Mia's formula bottle (w/o lid) all over the floor. The mutiny is broken (!) and we are all appalled at the discovery that Oreo actually ENJOYS formula - yuk! Better that than the egg that now rolls from the counter onto the concrete floor, much to the delight of David (again!) and the disgust of the girls.

Only now do I acknowledge I might need to put still hungry Mia down to clean and get the kitchen back in order just to successfully feed the ever-so-patient (in a surly kind of way) clan of Meissler's + Mia. I do, she cries, and yet eventually everyone is fed and clothed and gathering school work and Mia is happily playing ball with Claire. Too cute, though I know this 'quiet moment' is just that - a moment!

Today is one of 'those' days. I am certain now to set my standards low (especially for myself) and look for the bright spots...the house is clean (for now) and hopefully will stay that way long enough for the Bible study to gather in our home this evening. They are a very forgiving group, many with children grown and gone who openly admit to missing the 'kid stuff' that gathers in 'the pit' under the stairs, but I still feel under a microscope as Craig serves our congregation. (I can't tell you the number of times people with start a sentence with "I was watching you...") All I want is a clean gathering space and some semblance of organization...which often seems to elude me.

I know God is in control. I know I am so blessed and I adore my beautiful family. I know after a running start that I need an extra measure of help from above today so PLEASE pray for me!

Much Love to you ALL!

Nia

P.S. Brisket needed to use the litter box and thus has returned home!

Despite the crazy morning that followed, I am glad you got to sleep in a little. I am guessing that doesn't happen very often for you! :)

I voted for cats. I love the puppies, but I've always had a special place in my heart for those independent little kitters. The best of both worlds is when you find a really outgoing and friendly "dog cat."

I love that you have a blog now so I can stay in touch in short bursts, rather than having a long "draft" letter sitting in my hotmail account waiting for me to finish it for weeks... I am so bad about emailing my family and friends anymore (Hi Laina!). I may open a family blog account myself. Great idea, my dear cousin. :)

Much love and happiness to you and your beautiful family.
