This week Craig has a mandatory "retreat" for work, so the rest of the Meissler clan misses him and are trying to keep busy to make the days pass faster! The down side is that this is the week we are expecting 100 degree (+ humidity) weather, and after enough days have passed in the hundreds, the neighborhood pool becomes nothing more than an over sized bathtub after 3pm. Still, we are grateful for it and plan on being there every day this week (closed on Mondays for cleaning). So with that in mind, we are trying to get our blog updated for y'all today.
From Ella: I wish mom would write* 'you all'. I don't really like y'all and the Texas accent! This weekend I attended a sleepover for my friend Emily's 10th bday. I stayed up until 12am, but the other girls stayed up until 2am! (I know this from them waking me up!) We made cookies but they weren't very good because we forgot to add vanilla, and we baked it in an Easy Bake oven. Not even the boys in Sunday School would eat them! I'm starting book #4 for today (yes, I've already read through 3 entire books). I really LOVE to read, and the weather is just right for a good book (in the shade). *for those of you who read the blog before this was corrected, mom typed 'right' instead of 'write'. It is not a homeschooled child mistake...it is a mommy multitasking and not proof-reading mistake!
From Natalie: I read a whole Bible in one day! The rhyme Bible is a really fun one to read. I have a new friend at the pool named Matthew. We play minnow when he is there. We are doing this thing called a 'Job Jar'. Every morning we wake up and get dressed and go downstairs and pick a job from the 'Job Jar' to do for the day and get paid. Sometimes we get paid dollars, and sometimes just cents. When I have enough money saved, I want to spend it at Target for the cute leopard Fur Real pet, because it is SOOO CUTE!!!
From Grace: Uh, I don't know what to say. I really liked drinking hot cocoa during the rainy day and playing on my bike. I finished my 200 piece Lion King puzzle. I think that's all.
From David: Um, like, I really like Larry Boy and his bad apple and rumor weed. My Buzz Lightyear Bible ripped an I need a new one. Yea, like this (mouth sound). I need a new one!
From Claire: Up! Stop! Ha, Ha, Ha. Uh, Uh, Uh, (fake like I'm gonna start to cry so I can get my way!)
We had some excitement from Hurricane Dolly this past week. We had 3 tornado warnings (you haven't truly lived until you are cooped up for 45minutes - 1 hour with 6 children, 2 cats and 1 adult in a closet!) and a tornado watch from 11am to 7:30pm. We had a boat load of rain and a tornado touch down on the S. side of town. Craig still maintains that it wasn't a hurricane, it was only rain. Okay.
One FABULOUS find that has helped to pass the 'too hot for outside fun' time is the spring horse we've all just taken to calling the "Wonder Horse". Everyone but Ella, Mom and Dad gets to enjoy it...just look at the pictures! Don't feel too bad for Ella though...since the Wonder Horse was found at the consignment shop, you can be sure she stocked up on craft projects (like an EZ Knitting Machine) and plenty 'o' books. We are very blessed to have a great consignment shop just up the road...better yet is that we get to enjoy it on 'homeschool day' for a discount of 50% off books and 25% off everything else...(this brings me SO much joy...as is obvious by my compulsion to share this news with all of you!).
Have a great week!
