All Meissler's, with the exception of Craig, are ill with the common cold. David and Claire had the trauma of FEVER with the cold, but after a 4 and 2 hour nap, respectively, they seem to be back on the mend today.
There is nothing worse than the summer cold. In the winter, at least, you are somewhat prepared for colds. You know it is the season, and since you are forced indoors anyway it is easy to resign yourself to the malady while comforting yourself with hot tea, honey and a good book. In the summer...not so much. Anything warm makes you feel vomittous (not a word and yet so appropriate!) and anything cold is agony on the throat...not to mention feeling bummed out about missing all the out-of-doors fun.
A side note on out-of-doors fun....how fun, really and truthfully, is a slip 'n' slide?? It seems there are those who ADORE it, find it FABULOUSLY fun and can't get enough of it. Run, slide, splash. Run, slide, splash. Run, slide, splash. Then there are those who just can't figure them out. Trot, splat, slip. Trot, splat, slip. Trot, splat, slip. We have 2 fans of the slide here, and are interested in YOUR opinion, so please vote on our poll!
Last week's ballet camp at Oak Hills Church morphed into "liturgical dance"...since this was out of their comfort zones, (and honestly, out of ours too!) we didn't make them 'perform' on Friday. While we appreciated the free camp, we would have preferred to have been informed as to what genre of dance the kids would ultimately be performing. Ella was too cute in proclaiming "I really don't like the music at all and I am way too Lutheran to dance to it!" By Friday the 2 youngest Meissler's were out with fever anyway, so it all worked out for the best.
Every single Meissler in swim is a leader in their swim class. This is especially huge for Grace and David since both were terrified of the pool at the start of the season! Claire is following suit by venturing to the 3rd step in the big pool, cruising around the baby pool like she owns it, and dunking her whole face under water. We hope that next year they can all join the Hidden Forest Swim Team - The Piranhas. The way classes are going now, this seems to be a realistic goal:-).
Here's hoping the summer cold has not descended upon YOUR home...and please remember to vote on our poll!
Love Much,
The Meissler 7
P.S. The fever broke just in time for the stomach flu to descend upon our peaceful home - UGH!
That being said, there are advantages to not being able to smell when all are ill - enough said!
