UGH...back to taxi duty!!!
Today it felt like we lived in the car...so our schooling was more of a 'burst here' and 'burst there' type. We did get the more substantial subjects done (starting at 7:30a.m.) and thankfully the kiddos are super flexible and really didn't seem to mind too much.
The big chunk out of the middle of our day is spent with Ella's Youth Chorus practice. The director changed locations from 'outside' the loop to 'inside' the loop, and it is incredible how much more traffic we've encountered as a result. We have always left 40 minutes before scheduled practice (and that is allotting EXTRA time from where every map program and male in town will tell you the commute should take!) and still we fail to arrive any earlier than 11:59a.m. (with noon being the goal time!). The practice always seems to run late, and by the time we arrive home, it is nearly always 2p.m.. It is hard for me to adjust to this lump of time being vacuumed out of my day...I am praying for the stamina to at least see the Fall semester through...even with a much-desired-tour coming in the Spring semester.I just have a hard time taking so much time away from the familys need as a whole for 1 extra curricular!
After a quick 'wrap-it-up' session once we arrived back home, we played 'see-how-fast-you-can-pick-up' and 'what-miracle-meal-will-emerge-from-the-fridge-for-dinner?' I made snack for the new Handbells and Youth Choir program at church, as my husband is the director and made me. Just kidding....really more because Ella & Natalie are participants and until a snack sheet is created, distributed and full of eager snack volunteers, I'm in charge of the duty, because my husband is the director.
A new change to my schedule is that I am attempting to attend a new Together In the Word (or TIW) group this Fall that happens to meet at the church at the same time as the kids group. We had hosted a dinner group and study in our home when the TIW sessions first began, and then had to stop (something HAD to give!) after the session had ended. After that we were participating on our own via the worksheets provided from the adult Sunday morning study. I really enjoyed getting to hear different perspectives on the study questions with this new group, and Grace, David and Claire, who have very strong, negative feelings about the childcare worker in the nursery during that time, played beautifully in a back room of our meeting house. Afterwards, everyone got to play on the playground as a reward for good behavior, and we headed home for dinner, round 2 and our usual night routine.
I'm blogging the minutia here, but I'm sticking to the '1 full week' goal...and the minutia is where life happens, right?
