Illness has descended upon the Meissler household. We have ALL been battling the combination of intestinal distress, fever, head cold, severe cough and laryngitis. No fun. No fun at all. Please forgive if our blog entries are less than stellar...we just haven't been ourselves!!
Ella: My experiment worked! For our Pizza Party Presentation last Saturday, I spoke about Robert Boyle. Robert Boyle was from a large family (14 kids!) and was the 7th son. He went to college before he was 9 (!) and after only 3 years in college he travelled abroad. My experiment was about his gas law, but I mainly picked him because he used his money to translate the Bible into different languages, and supported missionaries in other countries. I thought he was very interesting. (note from mom: Ella didn't care to share this, but I will as a proud momma! She is now free to trot around the stable without being tethered to her teacher. For her to be postage trotting is HUGE as it takes her one step closer to apprentice work, which is her goal. Also, she completed the entire Narnia series in one week. She is a fantastic reader, and even though the series ending made her cry {and mom too!} she's glad she was finally allowed to read the books!)
Natalie: For my presentation, I did zebras. I was the last picked to present, and I wasn't very happy about that. I picked zebras because they looked like fun creatures. Did you know scientists believe that zebras are black with white bodies? They think this because each zebra has different stripes. Zebras have only one toe, and they like to run on tip-toe! (mom note: we were just made aware last week that Natalie is the youngest member of her dive team by 3 years. We're so proud!)
Grace: Grace won't be blogging today. She vomited this morning, AND she has a stuffy head cold with fever. She DID want me to share that her presentation was on animal homes, that she built a squirrel nest from an extra large bird nest she found, and that the nail fairy visited her and left her a dollar. The nail fairy also said she likes visiting Grace, but that she hopes Grace doesn't lose any more nails!
David: Um, I want to say, um, say, um, Mater and Lightning McQueen. And the mushroom. And, and, and, the tiny purple driveway. (A note from mom here. I have NO CLUE what he is talking about! David's latest and greatest is space exploration, and he runs around with a 'space helmet' on his head. He also says "and guess what" about 50 times per cohesive thought, and he won't continue on until you say "what?", making for time consuming and patience building conversations throughout the day. I love it, love it, love it, for I know 'this too shall pass' and he won't WANT to tell me 'hey, guess what' for too much longer! Plus, the girls agreed {before they became aware of the frequency} to practice 5 minutes on their instruments for every 'guess what'. The sick ways parents entertain themselves!)
Claire: Claire repeats EVERYTHING she hears now, and is too cute about sharing her new words. She is now showing compassion (bringing stuffed toys to those who might be crying) and plays by herself in the land of imagination for good chunks of time. I wish I could record every single episode of this for you (and me) as it is the cutest thing you ever did see!
Here's hoping your week is better than ours!

Sorry to hear that illness has descended on your home. Congrats to the presenters...the projects sounded awesome. We loved the space helmet...gotta love that imagination.
Are you sure Claire isn't a cheesehead? (butter picture)
Love to you all
